The Racket #26 : Childhood w/ Ingrid Rojas Contreras

2018 has crawled upon hands and knees to the finish line and 2019 has - with the smile of the blissfully ignorant - snatched the baton and taken off with unchecked abandon. And with the blind idealism of a new year already fading, we thought, let’s kick this year off with a Top 5 Literary Themes bang. Yup, let’s talk about CHILDHOOD. Let’s talk about our developmental years. Let’s talk about getting beat up in the wood chips underneath the yellow, plastic slide. Let’s talk about the looming specters that were adults, teachers, figures of authority. Let’s talk about being a kid and being an adult and the assuredly bent line that connects the two.

To celebrate the infant days of 2019, long ago The Racket reader Ingrid Rojas Contreras will join us to read from her fantastic new novel, Fruit of the Drunken Tree (Doubleday Books).
